A second Research Associate position is available at MCI on the broader topic of China and Globalisation

The Manchester China Institute (MCI) is seeking to appoint a Research Associate with research experience and interest in the history and social aspects of China to work on a research project titled “China and Globalisation” led by Prof Peter Gries.

This is a call for candidates who are interested in exploring the cultural, historical and/or social dimension of China's role in today's globalised world. We welcome applications from many different fields such as history, economics, politics, sociology, psychology, or a combination of these. 

You will be based in the Lee Kai Hung Postdoctoral College at the MCI working both independently and with academic colleagues from the MCI and other institutes and departments.

You will have a PhD or equivalent qualification (completed or near completion) in history or the social sciences (ex. Psychology, politics, economics, sociology), advanced knowledge of China and Mandarin Chinese as well as demonstrable ability to publish in leading academic journals.
